All Things Aliens...
/My first book, Zylan Captive, was published twenty years ago. I’ve often said there is a lot of me in that book. I’d just been laid off from a career I’d had for decades. One that was all wrapped up in my self-worth and who I was as a person. In so many ways… I was that job.
During those first dark days of unemployment and low self-esteem—I read. Constantly. One book was so bad, I couldn’t finish it. I threw it in the garbage and told my husband, “I can write better than that!”
He shrugged and said, “Then why don’t you?”
I believe I rolled my eyes at him.
But the thought stuck in my mind. Why didn’t I? I did some research. Wrote three chapters filled with a heroine who just lost her job, was addicted to Diet Coke and cigarettes, and who was abducted by aliens who… among so many other failings… didn’t have a ready supply of Virginia Slims and Diet Coke.
The publisher responded within a week, wanting to see the rest of the book. Which didn’t exist. But since I was unemployed… I had plenty of time to write. Even more time to edit, and eventually the book was published. I now have 42 books total (20 are alien romance books). There are 31 single titles, 9 boxsets, and a few Vellas sprinkled in. I also have 5 preorders set to release during the next six months. Including BinjaOB which will release October 31, 2023, and Backup Alien set for release March 25, 2024.
My alien series include Zylar’s Moons (ZM), Out of THIS World (OoTW), and the recent addition of Alien Band of Brothers (ABoB). The ABoB books can be found on the OoTW series page.
In Ravyn’s world, space is vast with all sorts of alien beings and planets. Yet, the characters running through my series will often bump into each other.
The planet Zylar from ZM is mentioned in several of the books. The clones in ABoB have mates from Earth, many who need medical care. They’ve reached out to Grace, the doctor in The Alien & The OB, for help. Grace lives on Megoth along with several other women from the OoTW series.
In the coming months… the characters and stories from the two series—OoTW and ABoB—will intertwine.
One of the themes running through my alien books is male chauvinism. Many of the planets and men in these stories have pretty archaic ideas about women. The heroes might be cute, but they need a healthy dose of women’s rights. (The clones are refreshingly updated. They love their women just as they come. There is no attempt to train them, take away their freedom, or make them fit in a male-dominated culture.)
Sadly, the same cannot be said about many of the other books. This excerpt taken from the Zylar’s Moons Series page says it all… This extremely HOT Science Fiction Romance series follows the abduction of an Earth woman and how she rebels against the role of women on the very male chauvinist alien world she is taken to. Over the course of the series, she works to improve her life, as well as that of the alien women on the planet Zylar.
I’ll leave you with a little warning… These books are Alien Abduction Romance stories, and they touch on subjects such as captivity and rough handling. In most cases, the hero saves the woman who was captured. However, he still might need a few lessons on how to treat her!
Thank you for being part of my world!
