Writing Wilde - Writing Tip February 9th, 2021
/Writing Wilde - Writing Tip February 9th, 2021 - Some of the best ideas come when there are no distractions. The TV is off, there is no music playing, and I’m alone with the thoughts in my head. Sometimes those thoughts are pretty weird, but that is when things get good. I do a lot of what-iffing.
I read a book about Marie Antoinette’s life that left me thing about how she really didn’t have a chance to find herself. She was married off very young to a strange boy who just happened to be king. And everyone was the boss of her. They told her what to wear and how to wear it. What to eat, what to say, etc… and then blamed her for the plight of a country. She didn’t have a chance to get angry, grow up and tell people to shut the hell up and leave her alone. So, What if… she was a vampire and didn’t die? Hah! That is how the idea for Let Them Eat Cake came about.
One of my favorite places to daydream is in a bubble bath. Typically with a pot of coffee, the lights out, and candles. Don’t make the mistake of forgetting an old tablet and pen so you can write down ideas. Or it will be a short bath! This also works well can’t figure out something in a book I’m writing. I just soak in the water and … BAM! Here come the ideas.
Take care of yourself!
